May 15th is the birthday of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. A national flag was raised at Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. on May 15, 2018, specifically for the birthday of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. The flag-raising document stated, “This flag was flown in honor of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, supreme leader of all Buddhism, on the occasion of his birthday.”
In their message congratulating H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III on His birthday, United States President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump stated, “His Holiness Dorje Chang Buddha III, Pasadena, California. Your Holiness, we are pleased to join your family and friends in wishing you a happy birthday! As you celebrate this special occasion, we pray your year ahead is filled with good health, happiness, and the many blessings of our great Nation. With very best wishes.”
A number of senior congressional members from both the House and the Senate also sent letters to congratulate H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III on His birthday, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Ed Royce, former Chairperson of the Senate Intelligence Committee Dianne Feinstein, the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations Patrick Leahy, and others.
Additionally, the United States Postal Service authorized the issuance of a first-day cover to commemorate this significant day of raising the national flag in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the birthday of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.

In December 2012, the Senate of the 112th US Congress passed Resolution 614 unanimously to praise the World Peace Corps Mission and the World Peace Prize. In that resolution, the US Senate not only acknowledged that the World Peace Corps Mission is an international organization that operates according to a high core spirit, the World Peace Prize is a prestigious award presented by the World Peace Corps Mission that celebrates individuals who have contributed tremendously to peace and enlightenment of humanity, it also affirmed the World Peace Prize Awarding Council for recognizing H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III for His devotion to an immensely wide scope of humanitarian activities directed at individuals from different communities throughout the world, as well as acknowledged that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has received numerous awards, including the United States Presidential Gold Award, which the Chairman of the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders presented on behalf of President George W. Bush to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III for the outstanding contributions of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to arts, medicine, ethics, Buddhism, spiritual leadership, and United States Society.
In this resolution, the US Senate uses His Holiness (H.H. in short) to respectfully address Dorje Chang Buddha III, which represents the utmost respect by the US Congress to the highest status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.
In June, 2011, the World Peace Corps Mission presented the Top Honor Prize to
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III received the top honor prize of the World Peace Prize in June, 2011. The World Peace Prize is a prestigious award presented by the World Peace Corps Mission, an international Evangelical missionary organization. Since its inception in 1989, the World Peace Prize has been awarded to individuals contributing to the causes of world peace by preventing regional conflicts or world war; by settling the disputes of political, diplomatic and economic matters; or by developing new inventions to minimize threats and confusions within mankind.
Over the past two decades, World Peace Prize has become a prestigious prize well recognized internationally. Some of the past award recipients include President Ronald Reagan of the United States; President Abdurrahman Wahid of Indonesia; H.E. Yitzhak Rabin, former Prime Minister of Israel; and President Kuniwo Nakamura of Palau among others.
The World Peace Prize was founded by late Hon. Robert L. Leggett and Dr. Han Min Su. It operates under the principles of inter-religious collaborations and in the spirit of altruism and world peace. The true spirit of peace is shared by people with different beliefs. The World Peace Prize is adjudicated by a distinguished panel of judges who come from diverse backgrounds, nationalities, faith, and ethnicity. They stand to show the spirit of unity in Mankind.

Mayor of the US Capital City Washington D.C. proclaims January 19 to be
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Day!
On January 19, 2011, Mayor Vincent C. Gray, the mayor of our nation’s capital Washington, DC, personally signed and issued a proclamation in which January 19, 2011 was proclaimed as His Holiness Dorje Chang Buddha III Day.
In that proclamation, Mayor Gray called upon all residents of Washington, DC to join him in saluting H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III! The mayor stated that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has, through His selfless and exceptional work, spread the word of peace to all those in his presence. The mayor commended H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III for His vast accomplishments that have helped to strengthen the foundation of a peaceful society, in not only His Holiness’s region of the world but in the Washington, DC community as well. Additionally, Mayor Gray praised H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III as the World Buddhist Leader who ceaselessly, compassionately, and without remuneration uses His wisdom, talents and moral character to help those in need.
At the end of the proclamation, Mayor Gray emphasized: “NOW, THEREFORE, I, THE MAYOR OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, do hereby proclaim January 19, 2011, as “HIS HOLINESS DORNE CHANG BUDDHA III DAY” in Washington, DC, and call upon all residents of this great city to join me in saluting Him for the enormous contributions that have helped enhance the lives of others.
